I’m an international relations professional, a disability rights advocate, a high school exchange volunteer—and a self-taught baker. While I’m not a professional photographer or web designer (I’m working on it!), I’ve always been driven by the interconnectedness of people across the globe.
For me, the simplest, most delicious way to bond with others is to invite them to share a piece of their culture. And who can resist a dessert? I certainly can’t. That’s how this blog—dedicated to Global Fusion Cookies—came to be!
My Baking Philosophy: Flavor over Flaws
I only started baking a few years ago. Sometimes I aspire to the sheer brilliance seen on The Great British Bake Off, but mostly, I just enjoy the process. To be completely honest, I also wanted to prove to myself that I could do it.
I have a disability that affects my fine motor skills, among other things, which impacts the “picture-perfect” beauty of my baked goods. Early on, I was often daunted by baking blogs where every item looked flawless. I want this space to be different and accessible to the casual baker.
Here, my baked goods will always be presented as they came out of the oven—flaws embraced. Why? Because the heart of a truly great cookie isn’t its beauty; it’s the flavor.
What to Expect
I believe baking should be simple and fun for everyone. While some of the global flavors we’ll explore might require sourcing an ingredient or two that isn’t in your standard pantry, I always strive to keep the methods straightforward.
This is a blog for bakers of all abilities who are ready to explore the world, one delicious, imperfect, and flavor-packed cookie at a time. Let’s get mixing!
